Liberation

Is it enough to go through life acknowledging others, satisfying others, learning from the
arbitrary judgments that are predisposed into you from birth?  Is it enough to experience life
as a planned event guided by institutional traditions that were developed by people to be in
command of people?  Is it enough to be “free” to choose what you want to do as long as you
allow who you are to be mandated by normality?

Reflective expressionism is about allowing your being to explore unknown thoughts that
eventually can be pieced together to form something concrete.  That is how a light bulb was
invented.  That is how a mind formulated flight before anyone possibly knew flight could
exist for human beings.  Reflective expressive art is not “nothing” art.  It is an expression of
listening with your heart to your own mind working; formulating, isolating, connecting
thoughts that eventually make sense.  You have to allow your thoughts a period of comfort
while not knowing what they mean.

These collections provide a sanctuary for letting people be themselves to process flowing
mental activity that gets squashed by the noise of society.  It is never about any one single
stroke, color, or element in a piece that is supposed to mean something.  The collection
within a single piece and within a collection of many pieces provides an environment that
rises above the mental prison that most of us put ourselves in every day.  It limits our minds
desire to encapsulate complexity with single buzz words, and promotes complex feelings that
stimulate unrecognized thoughts.

Every painting that I work on is a result of a feeling, not a picture that I have in mind.  It can
be harsh.  It can be drama.  It can be mellow.  It can be an adjective, adverb, or verb.  It can
be total chaos that eventually comes together to form a cohesive rhythmic quality.  I can not
reproduce any landscape or human picture better than life itself.  I look to my surroundings
to find the perfect picture.  What I can reproduce better than anything is what exists in my
mind, and reproduce a process of activity that communicates a feeling that may be
interpreted by everyone differently based on where they are at emotionally.   This
environment is simply the being part of human, and is the essence of maturity for which age
is irrelevant.

Reflective expressionism is not about interpreting message.  The notion that one is teaching
and/or learning is not the intention.  The expression simply provides an environment; an
environment for you to be you without “noise” affecting your decisions made for yourself.
The environment is within for which no one can create distraction except you.  Ultimately,
that is liberation.
